Nafisa Kamal, owner of Comilla Victorians in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), is interested in buying a team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

According to Bangladeshi reporter Fahim Rahman, Nafisa is among the people interested in securing one of the franchises in the PSL.

However, it is unlikely that there will be additional teams in the PSL during the next two seasons due to the agreement between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the current six franchises.

“There is immense pressure to increase the number of teams in PSL, but unfortunately Ehsan Mani and Ramiz Raja made an agreement with the franchises that only six teams will play in the next two years. However, it was an eight-team project. We have to convince the franchises to include two more teams. No one will lose anything, and if a franchise suffers a loss, the PCB will take responsibility,” Sethi said in February earlier this year.

“But there is a high demand to include two more teams, and it will be more successful with many people showing interest to be part of it. Let me tell you, even if there were 10 teams now, all of them would be sold due to the high demand," he added.

It is worth mentioning here that the PSL was initially a five-franchise tournament, but later Multan Sultans joined the tournament in the third edition.

Sethi also thanked all the stakeholders for making PSL 8, which was won by Lahore Qalandars, successful. The Shaheen Afridi-led side became the first team to win back-to-back titles.

“I want to thank all the stakeholders, including federal, provincial governments and law enforcement institutions for their unwavering support and making the PSL 8 a success. The way all the arms of the state worked together and provided their help and support to the PCB underscores how this tournament is now considered as a national asset,” Sethi said.

“I also want to thank the foreign players for their participation in the tournament. The foreign players want to come and play in the league as it provides them quality cricket and has helped in their development. Many foreign cricketers who have played here have gone on to graduate to the top-level, because of which the PSL has emerged into as a global brand.

“All the women players who were here for the women exhibition matches in Rawalpindi have expressed their desire to come back and play in Pakistan, which is a great advert for our country.”
